meet the animals

Meet the animals: (pictures of each) Not all animals can be shown as new animals arrive often and unexpectedly and re-homed. So here are some that have been doing shows with Mr. Drew for years.

A California Black and White Kingsnake. She is 15 years old and started out as a hatchling owned by Mr. Drew's oldest daughter. Abby is an ambassador for all snakes. She has been held safely by thousands of people and she is the snake that has helped people overcome their fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia)

Out of all Mr. Drew's animals, Burnie has the saddest story of all. She is a Colombian Red Tail Boa Constructor. In 2008 Burnie was set on fire because the owners did not want her and thought is would be funny. One would think she would hate humans but she is very docile! Learn her story from Mr. Drew's show.

An Argentine Black and White Tegu. This large lizard has a very diverse diet, eating a wide variety of things and if he is hungry during a show, Mr. Drew may feed him by hand! Tegu's are hunted for their skin and when you feel his skin - you will understand why!

A Red Ear Slider Turtle is the #1 public enemy in the State of Maine. These turtles for many years were common pets. In 2010 they became illegal in Maine because they are a highly invasive species throughout the world! Maine has 7 species of turtles, 4 of which are protected and the Red Ear Slider is a threat to our native species. Mr. Drew is one of the few people in the State of Maine that can take them in and re-home them, out of state.

A 19 year Sulcatta Tortoise from Africa. They are the third largest species of tortoise in the world! Males can max out at 200 pounds and live for 150 years.

A green Iguana of undetermined age that was involved in a domestic violence case and he himself was severely abused. Learn why this animal has 3 eyes.

Vietnamese Walking Sticks

Mr. Drew raises many types of insects as food for many animals and brings them to his programs because insects are just as fascinating as any other animals. Stick bugs are found all over the world, even here in Maine!

A Goffin's Cockatoo born in Connecticut but her species comes from the Tanimbar Islands in the South Pacific. She has been with Mr. Drew her entire life of 27 years (as of 2017). Though she is not the friendliest of the animal, she is the star of the show. EVERYONE loves Wendy!
